At Aldabra Academy, Grade 1 builds upon the wonder of early learning with deeper skill development and more independent discovery. While foundational reading, writing, and math skills are strengthened, students also begin to explore their place in the world, the patterns in nature, and how things work—all through thoughtful, real-world learning adventures.

Even in an asynchronous setting, students are guided to connect with their surroundings, ask questions, and express their thinking through a variety of engaging, creative formats.

What to Expect:

• 🌿 Nature-Based Learning Prompts

Each week includes prompts that send students outdoors to observe seasonal changes, explore patterns in nature, or collect real-world data. These simple activities turn the natural world into a living classroom.

• 🧠 Core Skill Development (Literacy, Numeracy, Social-Emotional)

Short, focused lessons build reading fluency, number sense, sentence writing, and early critical thinking. Lessons are playful, active, and easy to implement at home, with gentle progress toward independence.

• 🎒 Mini Learning Adventures

Grade 1 learning is organized into thematic adventures such as “Who Lives Here?”, “Weather Watchers,” or “Patterns All Around.” Each adventure blends science, literacy, and math with stories, art, hands-on tasks, and reflection.

• 💬 Storytelling and Sharing

Students are encouraged to express their ideas through writing, drawing, voice recordings, or video reflections. Sharing work helps build confidence and allows learners to communicate their understanding in ways that feel natural and joyful.
